The View’s Behar: 2020 Shy Trump Voters Are ‘the Same’ as Racist President

News & Politics

For a Halloween even edition of The View on Friday, the show’s liberal hosts discussed their fears. Shockingly, the talk mostly revolved around election day. Joy Behar conceded to be frightened of the so-called “secret Trump” voter. She slimed these Americans (and validated why they don’t tell people who they are supporting) by saying that any shy Trump fan will prove in 2020 they are just as racist as the President.

Behar said that these people in 2016 could explain their vote by saying, “He’s a businessman…. He’s something different.” Speaking for hidden Trump voters, she insisted, “But now it’s different. Now they know he’s a misogynist. They know he’s a racist. They know that he separated little children from their parents and had no plans to reunite them. They know he mismanaged this COVID crisis…. He deliberately did the wrong thing.”

So why would anyone vote for Trump? According to Behar’s smear, it’s because they are just as racist: “So, they know this now, so they can’t hide behind it. I mean, unless they don’t tell people they’re going vote for him. Unless he tell each other. They can’t tell regular people anymore. Because they’re basically admitting they are the same as him.”

Trump voters can’t talk to “regular people?” Doe Behar consider herself in that group? Maybe some Trump voters keep their choice secret because liberal media types are constantly calling them racist monsters?

Co-host Ana Navarro had a similar worry, citing her 2016 “PTSD”: “You know what scares me? What scares me, too, is people relying on the polls. I have PTSD from 2016. I remember the polls looked pretty good for Hillary Clinton the week before the election.”

Co-host Sunny Hostin was frightened of evil Republicans suppressing the vote: “My biggest worry is the continued efforts by the Republican Party, quite frankly, for voter suppression.”

Looks like the liberal View hosts are worried the scares might not end on Halloween.

JOY BEHAR: So what am I worried about? I’m worried about, seriously, the secret Trump supporters. I’m worried about them. Because before the election when they voted for him, they could say, “Well, he’s a businessman. He hate politicians. He’s something different. baa baa baa. But now it’s different. Now they know he’s a misogynist. They know he’s a racist. They know that he separated little children from their parents and had no plans to reunite them. They know he mismanaged this COVID crisis and deliberately did not do the right thing by all these people who are getting this disease.

He deliberately did the wrong thing. We know that because of the tape with Bob Woodward. We know that because of the tape with Jared Kushner. So, they know this now, so they can’t hide behind it. I mean, unless they don’t tell people they’re going vote for him. Unless he tell each other. They can’t tell regular people anymore. Because they’re basically admitting they are the same as him.

SUNNY HOSTIN:  My biggest worry is the continued efforts by the Republican Party, quite frankly, for voter suppression. I was on a call last night with Black Voters Matter, started by LaTasha Brown. She’s a fellow at Harvard. There were so many women, black women, organizing in different states. Georgia, Texas, Kentucky, Florida. And the biggest concern was the continued efforts at voter suppression. People at the polls trying to intimidate voters, people filing lawsuits, trying to quash the vote.

And I’m really concerned because this is a global pandemic and you have seniors waiting online for four, five, six hours, you know, during a global pandemic. And we know that the pandemic, at least in this country, has disproportionately affected black and brown communities at great health risk to themselves they are still standing on lines to vote. I’m concerned about their well being and concerned about the fact that their votes may not be registered and may not matter.

ANA NAVARRO: You know what scares me? What scares me, too, is people relying on the polls. I have PTSD from 2016. I remember the polls looked good for Hillary Clinton the week before the election.
