ABC Lauds Fauci: ‘Pushes Science First’, Cries Over GOP Investigations

News & Politics

With the news Monday morning that Dr. Anthony Fauci will be leaving his position as President Biden’s chief medical adviser and head of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases to reportedly write a book and pursue other ventures, ABC’s World News Tonight gushed over Fauci and laughably claimed he was “always pushing for science first.”

Anchor David Muir opened with the news that’s devastated leftists everywhere: “Dr. Anthony Fauci revealing he is stepping down from his role at the National Institutes of Health, having served seven presidents, Republicans, and Democrats.”

For her report, chief White House correspondent Cecilia Vega lauded Fauci as “one of the most visible faces in the fight against COVID, both revered and loathed.” Vega added how he had “advised seven Presidents, all of them since Ronald Reagan, on the front lines of everything from Ebola and Zika, to the fight against HIV and AIDS.” Yet there was no mention of his disastrous handling of the HIV and AIDS epidemic which cost the lives of untold numbers of people suffering from the disease.

As if her fawning wasn’t embarrassing enough, Vega gushed: “always pushing for science first in President Trump’s White House. Fauci at times exasperated, his face in hand. He became the target of death threats and a rallying cry for conservatives opposed to masks and lockdowns.”

This is laughable considering Fauci has consistently contradicted himself over what “the science” says about how the public should be reacting to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Vega ended by bemoaning how Republicans have promised to investigate Fauci for his mishandling of the pandemic: “Dr. Fauci might hope to leave the politics of this town behind him, that might not be so easy. David today Republicans here in Washington making it clear that if they take control of Congress in November, they plan to investigate Dr. Fauci and his handling of this pandemic.”
