Republican Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis sent two planes full of illegal aliens to Martha’s Vineyard as a part of the state’s program to relocate them to sanctuary cities.

A spokesperson for DeSantis confirmed that the planes had landed in the exclusive summer resort island of Massachusetts.

“Yes, Florida can confirm the two planes with illegal immigrants that arrived in Martha’s Vineyard today were part of the state’s relocation program to transport illegal immigrants to sanctuary destinations,” said DeSantis communications director Taryn Fenske to Fox News Digital.

“States like Massachusetts, New York, and California will better facilitate the care of these individuals who they have invited into our country by incentivizing illegal immigration through their designation as ‘sanctuary states’ and support for the Biden Administration’s open border policies,” she added.

The migrants indicated that they believed they were part of a larger group that was going to be sent to Martha’s Vineyard on additional planes.

Fenske explained that the Florida Legislature had appropriated $12 million to relocate migrants to other states in accordance with federal law.

In November, DeSantis threatened to send migrants to Delaware and other states in response to federal policies that were sending as many as 90 planes of migrants to Florida.

Since that time, Texas Gov. Greg Abbott has been sending illegal aliens on buses to sanctuary cities including New York City, Chicago, and Washington, D.C. Mayor Lori Lightfoot of Chicago responded defiantly and called Abbott “un-American” and “racist” for sending migrants without warning or collaborating with local agencies.

Fox News Digital said it was provided video of the planes landing at Martha’s Vineyard Airport.
