NewsBusters Podcast: Airing Grievances Against Curtailing Christmas

News & Politics

Festivus is supposed to be about the airing of grievances, but Christians can feel that our cultural institutions, from the media to public schools, try to inhibit the message of Christmas as divisive, as not “inclusive”…as if Jesus didn’t come to speak to the “marginalized.”

Christianity is still seen as the dominant force in the culture, especially around holy days. From Christmas movies to Christmas music, we can sense the elites want everything to be secularized, for the dimension of faith to be flattened and silenced. The assumption is always we can’t offend the marginalized, who may not be Christian, or religious at all. They’re so energetic about it in the schools, you can’t sing about Frosty or Rudolph or Santa at all. It’s too close!

Religion can only be mentioned if it carefully aligns with a sales pitch for the leftist vision. Nancy Pelosi is the “devout Catholic” of their dreams. But if religion opposes what the Left wants, then it’s a dangerous theocracy and there’s an urgent need to separate church from state. Church stuff should be kept far away from state schools.
