A serious overnight crash claimed the lives of two people early Saturday morning near North Second Street and Nolana Avenue.
According to McAllen Police Sgt. John Saenz, the crash occurred around 2:29 a.m. and involved a Chevrolet Silverado pickup and a Nissan Altima.

The driver of the Altima, Juan Carlos Perez, 54, of McAllen, was pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger in the Silverado, Gianncarlo Corriabustos, 20, from Pasadena, Texas, also died.
The Silverado’s driver, a 40-year-old man, was hospitalized and is receiving treatment.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation, but intoxication is suspected. Police indicate criminal charges are likely as the investigation continues.
